Diwali Day 01: Dhanteras (October 18,2025 Saturday)

Dhanteras is the first day of Diwali and as the Hindu name indicates, it is a very auspicious day to buy Gold (jewelry and new utensils). On this day, Hindu people worship Lord Dhanvantari, the god of medicine and health.

Diwali Day 02: Narak Chaturdashi (October 20,2025 Monday)

Narak Chaturdashi is the second day of Diwali (Kali Chaudas) and people worship Lord Hanumana and Goddess Kali.

Diwali Day 03: Laxmi Puja (October 21,2025 Tuesday)

Laxmi Puja is the main day of the festival, it is on the third day of Diwali. On this day, people worship Goddess Lakshmi (the goddess of wealth and prosperity). They also light lamps and candles to illuminate their homes. To this day most businesses do poojas and start new books.

Diwali Day 04: Diwali Padwa / Goverdhan Puja (October 22,2025 Wednesday)

Goverdhan Puja is the fourth day of Diwali. It is also known as Annakut or Diwali Padwa. On this day, people worship Lord Krishna and offer him a mountain of food.

Diwali Day 05: Bhai Dooj (October 23,2025 Thursday)

Bhai Dooj is the fifth and final day of Diwali. The Bhai Dooj is also known as a festival of sisters and brothers who pray for their well-being. Sisters apply tilak on the foreheads of their Brothers and Brothers exchange gifts with sisters.

Based on the Hindu lunar calendar, the festival of Diwali falls on Kartik Amavasya or the new moon of Kartik month (8th Month of Hindu Calendar). In India, Diwali is a five day long celebration that starts with Dhanteras on the 13 lunar day of the Krishna paksha of Kartik month. It ends with the celebration of Bhai Dooj on the 17 lunar day of the Shukla paksha of the same month.
